Gen Z Is Rescuing Millions in Medical Supplies
What happens when young people see a problem that others have learned to overlook? Across the United States, a growing network of students is rescuing millions of dollars’ worth of perfectly usable medical supplies destined for landfills and delivering them to communities in need. When 16-year-old Ben Kurian discovered that hospitals routinely discarded sterile supplies simply because they were nearing expiration, he began organizing donations from his kitchen table. His efforts have since grown into a movement alongside student-led organizations like Blueprints for Pangea and United2Heal, whose volunteers are redirecting medical supplies to underserved clinics around the world. Balancing schoolwork with warehouse shifts and deliveries, these young changemakers are proving that compassion, resourcefulness, and a willingness to act can make an extraordinary difference. They didn’t wait for someone else to solve the problem. They simply saw a need and got to work.

Be The Change
Take a moment to look at something in your home, workplace, or community that’s no longer being used but still has value. Instead of letting it go to waste, consider who might benefit from it. A small act of resourcefulness can become an unexpected gift to someone. |
