Your Rose Garden

Your Rose Garden

In 1933, in the midst of the Great Depression in the US, President Roosevelt initiated the nationwide Works Progress Administration (WPA). With the unemployment rate at 25% and people living on the streets in countless numbers, the WPA put people to work creating buildings, bridges, monuments, art installations and gardens all across the country. President Roosevelt understood that people would find hope and meaning in working at jobs that turned a bad situation into something good. Many of the hundreds of projects were simply ways to make communities more beautiful through the arts. This short musical film celebrates the Berkeley Rose Garden, built by the WPA in the 1930s. It continues to this day nearly 100 years later as a living, vital community space where children come to run on the terraces, musicians play, and butterflies find a resting place.

Takin' My Time: the Power of a Pause
“We arrive on this planet empty-handed and we will all soon leave empty-handed. So then, how and in what spirit do we want to spend the time in between?”

— Nimo Patel

Takin’ My Time: the Power of a Pause

In a world consumed by speed, distractions, and pressure, hip hop humanitarian Nimo Patel invites us to slow down and embrace the beauty and power found in a pause. Through a stunningly playful music video created in collaboration with musician Daniel Nahmod and filmmaker Ellie Walton, the singers reminds us that ‘taking my time’ is not about idleness, but a mindful choice to savor life’s moments, nurture relationships, and align with purpose. Nimo himself is no stranger to the power found in taking a pause. With his early adulthood spanning MTV rap stardom, high-paced Wall Street life, and founding an animation startup, a gnawing sense of emptiness led him to return to his ancestral roots, which found him meditating in the mountains of North India and surfacing a path of service through the performing arts with children in the slums and communities around the globe. His journey is a testament to a life transformed by listening to inner whispers and flowing in the spirit of humanity. Enjoy this latest music video that captures the colorful spirit of takin’ our time.
