“I had been living in London. It was Sunday, July 27, 1980…a day that changed my life forever. I got up before dawn and went for a long, slow, easy run in Hyde Park. When I returned, I picked up the Sunday Times and went into my flat. After showering, I was thumbing through the newspaper, and when I got to page fourteen, I saw a headline in the education section: “How the Universe Hangs Together”. There was a picture of Dr. David Bohm, Professor of Theoretical Physics at London’s Birbeck College, with a caption underneath: “Bohm and his Algebra of Algebras: Religion is Wholeness.” I knew at that moment that this article was speaking to me and that I needed to meet Dr. Bohm.” { read more }

2613.jpgA fear of not belonging drives much of what we do and how we are.

Unknowingly it can define the experience of a life.

Most of us live with an underlying sense that we are not yet enough.

And assume that until we are we cannot truly belong.

We assume that we must become a better version of ourself.

But we’re never quite enough in this relentless pursuit of belonging.

We are lost to a never ending self improvement.

Might we have been looking out there when all along it had been within?

Might we already be the version we’d been seeking?

Beyond the endless game of fixing what is seemingly broken there exists a profound experience of knowing that there is no one to fix.

That we are enough as we are. And that we belong without condition.

Yet we cannot seek and hope to find this. As its nature is to find us. And to consume us with no doubt.

No one can teach us this. We cannot learn this.

In a moment of surrender. In a moment of not seeking, the experience can be re-known.

Nothing changes but everything is somehow different.

And then everything begins its transformation.

Liberation, peace and all that follows is the work of Inner View.

"To be Dakota means to walk in peace and harmony with every living thing. That is our way."

On December 26, 1862, 38 Dakota leaders of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, were hung in the largest mass execution in U.S. history. In May 2005, Jim Miller, a Dakota spiritual leader, had a dream of riding across the great South Dakota plains to Minnesota and watching 38 of his ancestors being hanged. In December 2008, Silas Hagerty and members of Smooth Feather Productions filmed this 330 mile ride of healing and reconciliation from Lower Brule, South Dakota to arrive at Mankato, Minnesota on the anniversary of the execution. Everyone, throughout the 6 years of the making of this 1 hour, 18 minute documentary film, provided their services as a gift to the project. The screening and distribution of "Dakota 38" is offered as a gift to everyone.

Amishi P. Jha came to her pathbreaking work studying the neuroscience of mindfulness and attention when, as a young professor of cognitive neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, she lost feeling in her teeth. She had been grinding them as a profound stress response to burnout from her responsibilities as a wife, mother, and tenure-track professor. Knowing from her academic work that the brain can change, she told herself at the start of summer, “before I quit my own career, lets see if I can get my own brain to change.” Fast forwarding to present day, Amishi is one of the first scientists to research the links between mindfulness and attention, she is known for her pioneering mindfulness work with soldiers, firefighters, medical trainees, and more.Her new book, Peak Mind uses fascinating research to debunk widespread assumptions, and surface powerful insights into where purpose and presence really stem from.
