I Am Malala

Malala Yousafzai was already well-known, if anonymously, in the West as the author of the compelling BBC blog describing life as a school girl in northwest Pakistan’s Swat Valley. She was catapulted to international fame by a failed assassination attempt by the Taliban and has since become the global face of the right of girls to enjoy the same educational and life opportunities as boys receive. At only 16 years of age, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize in 2013. In this interview with Jon Stewart of the Daily Show, Malala displays both her passion for the struggle for gender equality and her compassion for those who would do her harm.
